Digital Hub Initiative meets International Founders Scene

Entering foreign markets is not an easy task for start-ups. Covid times have made it even harder without major trade fairs and travel restrictions worldwide. No wonder that this year’s Start.up! Germany Tour hit a new record with 38 participating countries. Last week marked the final of a 5 month program with several qualification rounds, webinars and pitch events. The Digital Hub Initiative was main partner (besides the Ministry for Economic Affairs, Innovation, Digitalization and Energy of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and NRW. Global Business) at this year’s tour.

On December 1 and 2 we had an amazing time at of one of the biggest start-up events: Slush in Helsinki. Two full days of more than 20 start-up pitches and a panel discussion at the German Pitching Stage, speed dating sessions with international investors and a visit from the German ambassador at our booth made the event a great experience our start-ups and Hubs could benefit from. Also we were able to represent Germanys start-up ecosystem in an international context, have many good conversations and expand our network.

With 4 Hubs and 38 start-ups we presented our innovative booth and the digital ecosystem of Germany at Web Summit 2021 in Lisbon. Andreas Scheuer (Federal Minister of Transport and Digital Infrastructure),

Stefan Schnorr (Director-General for Digital and Innovation Policy, BMWi) and Dr. Martin Ney (German Ambassador Portugal) took part at the opening of our booth. We had great three days with lots of exchange, pitches and new contacts. Get impressions of the event in our picture gallery.
