You are never cast in the wrong role in Potsdam and Babelsberg. At least not if you are looking for the heart of Germany's media and film industry. The Digital Hub Potsdam brings together innovations from the field of mediatech that can be used far beyond the industry itself. After all, audiovisual technologies are already changing all kinds of business models and paving the way towards ‘extended reality’.
Visionaries in the Digital Hub Potsdam are working on innovative solutions in the field of media technology. The results of their work from the areas of business and research are also actively used beyond the media and entertainment world. Application areas such as big data and artificial intelligence are combined with speech and image recognition technologies. People are thinking – and looking – further ahead here, because extended reality is increasingly finding its way into our everyday professional and personal lives. The MediaTech Hub Accelerator and Space help start-ups to build their network and develop their business models. The annual MTH Conference, Germany's leading B2B event in the field of mediatech, brings together players and expertise from all industries, making them fit for the future. This is where people dare to take a look into the future together.

Volucap
Volucap is a 3D studio and the first volumetric studio with a resolution of over 600 megapixels. It uses special camera and software technology to produce lifelike three-dimensional recordings of people, digitally edit them and embed them like holograms in a virtual reality or augmented reality setting. Volucap was created in 2018 as a cooperation project involving partners of the MediaTech Hub Potsdam and has been an integral part of the studio site in Potsdam-Babelsberg ever since.
dwerft - linked metadata
dwerft – linked metadata for media is a regional research alliance specialising in innovative media technologies in the traditional location of Babelsberg. Over the past three years, research has been conducted here into metadata and artificial intelligence in the film and television industry. The research project for innovative media technologies funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) is now in its final phase. The results and initial prototypes were presented for the first time at the MediaTech Hub Conference in 2021.
MediaTech Hub Accelerator
The MediaTech Hub Accelerator offers tech start-ups a free six-month programme for developing innovative and successful business concepts. The Accelerator offers coaching and venture development services, for example, and provides access to various networks. The MediaTech Hub Accelerator was founded by three initiators: the University of Potsdam, the Hasso Plattner Institute and Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF.
MediaTech Hub Space
The MediaTech Hub Space is a place for co-working that inspires. In order to foster the start-up climate in Potsdam, the Hub is using the MTH Space to create a place where ideas and innovations can be directly turned into reality. Young mediatech start-ups are given support in the form of affordable office space and access to the latest coaching courses. In close proximity to established companies and scientific excellence, it promotes direct networking between start-ups, entrepreneurship and the world of science.
